Post Objective -
Share own motivational experience – help a new writer motivate themselves to write that book they have been meaning to begin or complete.
I remember reading in one of those books I listed in the Writing-Reference Books post – You’re a writer now! Feed that thought – put something within “eye-shot” of your writing desk – a coffee mug that reads “Writer” on the side, a inspirational poem or quote.
I began writing “The Legend of the Seahawk”
shortly after I had the dream that inspired the story, that was back in 2005. I then put it down and did not touch it for years. What motivated me to return to it and COMPLETE it? – Reading is what motivated me. I bought one of those e-reading devices called the Kindle, stopped watching TV and read, read, and read some more. I highly recommend that approach to motivation – READ as much as you can.
- If you own a Kindle I recommend subscribing to the Blog – Living, Breathing, Writing by author Chelle Cordero (All about writing and being a writer).
To Find a Subject
It was then that I asked
A barefooted boy
But he only looked around
And then he pointed down
this way
So I’m now here to ask you As we stand in the autumn breeze Where I might find a subject For my poem not yet created
You see, I’ve traveled far And the night will not wait So it’s here I have to find it If you can spare me your time
So you’ve come to me for advise have you Well, it happens I’ve become old for that purpose And I will now tell you what I know - You say you’ve traveled far
My wisdom tells me you’ve past it along the way
For it sails in the breeze And falls with the leaves
The barefooted boy told you What you wanted to know But you didn’t listen
And it is true that the night will not wait For you to find What it is you are looking for But if you look a little closer It might be the night Which you are looking for
Do you follow my pattern Of what it is I have to say
Yes I do I do indeed
All this time I really found it All this time It was within me
